Daintree River Ferry

Daintree River Ferry at Night

The Daintree River ferry operates from 5am until midnight so Cinderella needs to be back in the Daintree by midnight if she partakes of nighttime entertainment south of the river. Often, late at night, I am the only vehicle on the ferry.

The ferry is the only way across the river into the Daintree Rainforest. Not quite the only way but the alternative is a six hour drive and about 380km. Rossville (red pin) to Cape Tribulation is the Bloomfield Track and is four wheel drive only. It is often impassable during the monsoon.

The Long Way across the Daintree River

The ferry has the capacity for about 24 cars but because it is the only way across the river, it is used by all sorts of vehicles from cars to petrol tankers. The dust-covered rigs are coming south after travelling the Bloomfield Track.
